  • We use the latest techniques in SolidWorks based design, which is fully integrated with our Chinese manufacturing facilities.
  • Consignment delivery, both domestic and overseas, is all managed locally from North Wiltshire.

Urathon China

Manufacturing plant and operation:

  • WOFE status facilities (Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise) based in Guangdong, China.
  • Exclusive arrangements and matured business relationships with suppliers.
  • Duplication available of existing owned technologies and designs for broader applications.  

Our China based team:

  • China facility with its own in house engineering and quality control teams.
  • Senior engineering management team that liaises directly with UK office.
  • All key staff fully English speaking, including General Manager as well as Logistics, Distribution, Quality Control and Engineering.

Quality control and Engineering:

  • Full engineering and quality control teams on-site and available to visit supplier network for routine checks or responding to customer service enquiries.
  • In-house quality control staff
  • Additional checks carried out by external QC bodies.
  • Certified ISO 9001:2008 accreditation for internationally recognised QMS (Quality Management Systems) plus USA welding certificate and CE certified production.

1990s

Hugh Sims-Hilditch commences working with Chinese manufacture to develop polyurethane flat free tyres in exchange for a world exclusive

NOV 1992

American Environmental Europe incorporated, a flat free tyre business in China

1995

95% of wheelchair tyres are now flat free

OCT 1998

American Environmental Europe renamed to Urathon Europe Ltd

2000

Relationship with largest wheelchair manufacturers in China, Foshan Dongfang, established. Network of Chinese suppliers established with exclusive trading agreements

2002

Product range increased to include spare medical parts. The NHS becomes a key market

2005

First factory opened (Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise)

2006

First stairlift contract established.

Stairlifts going to UK, Europe and US

JULY 2010

Growth leads to relocation of Chinese operations to larger premises (2,300sqm2) in Foshan
